The portion sizes are generous, offering great value for the price, especially complementary meals like a pie, chips, and a drink for just £5.50. The friendly staff, particularly Kevin, provide exceptional service, enhancing the dining experience further. Many find joy in the variety of offerings, from traditional fish and chips to kebabs and vegetarian dishes, ensuring a great selection for everyone. During busy hours, the wait times can increase significantly, especially on Friday nights. This might frustrate some who prefer quicker service, particularly during rush hours. A few diners have mentioned that the limited seating can be a challenge when the takeaway area fills up. While the menu's variety is a strong point, some believe expanding the vegetarian options could enhance the appeal for non-meat eaters. Additionally, occasional delivery delays may occur, particularly during peak dining periods, leading to minor complaints.
We just made a trip to the Giddy kipper after reading reviews. Being a guy who will hunt out a good chippy where ever I visit this was not a disappointment. I will go as far as to say they were some of the best fish and chips I’ve had in years. Kevin, who was looking after the shop while his dad took a day off was an absolute pleasure to meet and talk too. This family run business definitely deserves to have all the success they are clearly having. Thanks Kevin for your friendliness and generosity to us and the other customers. Best Ade Felix and Shelley.
Been in Southampton due to family unforseen circumstances. Looked up a local chippy to where I am staying and saw this one. Absolutely outstanding service the three times i have ordered here, the food is absolutely fantastic. The prices are a decent price for what you get! Top notch, if I lived in Southampton 100% would make this my local chippy.
Great fish and chips. You can't ask for any better place to go for a fresh cod. Cod is battered to the right level with crispness. Chunky chips with a good portion. Clean place. Tried their salads as well and very fresh. Owners are very welcoming. Highly recommended. Worth the drive from Winchester.
I visited this place after looking for a chippy open on a Sunday, since my usual local spot was closed. I was pleasantly surprised—nice fish and chips, cooked well and served hot. The portion size was generous, and the price was very reasonable too. Great alternative when my go-to isn’t open. Would definitely return!
The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and accommodating, to the point he asked how hot we wanted our food. Food was really good and a meal (pie, chips & curry sauce or drink) at £5.50 was a good deal to be had. Definitely recommend to anyone passing, and we will be going back again soon.
Good! The place is clean and the man working there is really nice. The fish was good quality and for such a low price you can definitely eat up and be full. Absolutely amazing, but would be better with faster time of giving out the food. Overall, would recommend coming. 😋😋👍
Amazing food, only fish shop down here that reminds me of being back up home in the northeast. Very nice staff and food was on point
